Suspension Ring or Roll Surround Repair:

The flexible edge on a speaker is commonly made of a foam material which rots after about 10 years. This suspension is an extremely important part of the speaker as it keeps the voice coil centered, acts to stop the cone moving too far out and acts as a seal.

If you continue to use a speaker after the suspension has perished the sound is very distorted due to the voice coil rubbing against the pole-piece inside. Eventually the speaker will stop working because the voice coil rubs through or because the coil has smashed to pieces against the back plate of the magnet and broken.

This means if you intend to get your speaker repaired STOP USING IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE !!!
